Strictly – the Reveal!

Hi all,

It is finally time to reveal the amount of monies that we managed to raise through Strictly @ NaasLTC!  Firstly, I would like to thank all the dancers on the night – you were amazing and put on a brilliant show!  You know who you are….but here are the pairings again for all those who missed it…..

David Watters & Kathleen O’Byrne
Jason Popplewell & Tania Farrell
Sean Behan & Leslie Greene
Colm Keane & Carol Morrissey
Jonathan Ryle & Elaine Kelly
Eamon Galavan & Sarah Cooper
Declan Spellman & Helen May
Alistair Conway & Máire Morrin
Ernest Zuks & Liz Freeley
Vinny Brady & Elaine Donnelly
John Lawlor & Edwina Donnelly
Tommy Feane & Marguerite McCabe
Vincent O’Byrne & Una Swan
David Doyle & Ana Beatriz Garcia

And well done to the winners Tommy & Marguerite!

So we were raising monies for the installation of two Padel Tennis Courts in Naas LTC and I think we have managed to put a right dent in it…so thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, sponsored a dancer, took a page advert in the Strictly Brochure, bought brochures, bought raffle tickets, test drove a Toyota – the list goes on doesn’t it?

A special thank you to the Dancer Sponsors – click here

A special thank you to the Brochure Advertisers –  click here

A most special mention to Paul & Helen Donnelly – the Lead Sponsors of the night – it would not have been possible without you and all the other sponsors.

Nearly there….keep reading…..special thanks to all the volunteers that made the occasion so unique – this ranges from the Strictly Committee to the teens selling brochures and raffle tickets on the night – well done to all! I thank you on behalf of our club!

We will also be donating €2 per ticket sold to Aoibheann’s Pink Tie charity – and since we sold nearly 950 tickets, we thought it would only be fair to round the amount up to €2000!

So….with no further ado….

Official opening of Naas LTC clay courts

Dear Member

As you all know the club now has three new clay courts.   The courts have the latest clay technology, the first tennis club in Ireland to have this facility.

The courts are of such a high standard that we now have Irish International Simon Carr using them in his preparation for his clay court season.  He will be practising on them all this week.  He is practising in the mornings when the club is quiet.

The funding for these courts was supported by the Sports Capital Programme and we are grateful for the support of local T.D. Bernard Durkan in securing the funding.

Bernard Durkan will officially open the courts on Friday the 25th of January at 7.30pm along with the CEO of Tennis Ireland, Richard Fahey.

The celebration night will include Social Tennis and nibbles.   Please come down to the club and enjoy this special evening even if you do not participate in social tennis.

Naas Lawn Tennis Club are very grateful to Bernard Durkan T.D. and Richard Fahey CEO Tennis Ireland, who will also be in attendance, for their help in getting the clay court grant and as we are endeavouring to secure another grant for Padel Tennis Courts, a good turnout will indicate members’ interest in progressing the club.

Please come down and enjoy the occasion.

More details to follow…

It’s true…… The dome is back

The Dome is up again.  This wonderful facility, the envy of many clubs, allows us to have year round tennis in all weather conditions.

Many thanks to all the volunteers who turned up last Saturday to erect the Dome.  Volunteers were ably led by Shane, Padraig and Justin.   Some of our junior boys came out to help for the first time, thank you lads.  We started at 9am and thanks to the large numbers, the Dome was up and ready for use by 4pm. To keep us going Liz and Damien supplied us with cakes and tarts.
