The new Kildare league will be launching soon. This is a brand new inter club league across 9 clubs from Co. Kildare (Naas, Clane, Celbridge, Leixlip, North Kildare, Kilcullen, Two Mile House, Athy and Rathangan). The league is intended for players over the age of 18 who either played at class 6 or below in summer league or who did not play league but would be classed at class 6 or below.
There will be 6 players on a team, 3 ladies and 3 men. In each fixture there will be 1 mixed doubles pairing, one ladies doubles and 1 men’s doubles. Pairings will be made by means of a draw on the day so you will not know who your partner is until the draw is made.

The league starts on Sunday the 2nd of July with the finals on Saturday the 12th of August. Subject to numbers there will be a minimum of two divisions.

To all members,
It is with great sadness that we have heard of the death of Mary Rose Lyons, a lifelong member, developer and supporter of our club.
Mary Rose was a tireless worker for the club and served the club for decades. She held many roles within the club – Coach, Junior Chairperson, Ladies Captain, Honorary Secretary and also as Chairperson.
She was heavily involved with senior tennis as a player and was an intricate cog in helping develop our club to what it is today – driving many of the innovations around both club infrastructure and coaching development.
However, Mary Rose will be remembered by hundreds of “juniors” both in the club and nationally. She truly believed that juniors were the future of the club, and many of the existing and past Committee members remember her very fondly through coaching, running junior tournaments, and ensuring Naas LTC ran a premium Junior Open in the Summer which is still being run each year to this day.
Mary Rose also compiled and wrote a truly unique record of Naas LTC (History of the Club Volume 1 1881–1992) which was published in 1992 with Volume 2 following in 2005. Both have been added to the Wimbledon archives.
In 2004 Mary rose was presented with the Raymond Egan award by Tennis Ireland which is given to a volunteer who has given special service to tennis in Ireland. More recently she was presented with the Presidents special award by Tennis Ireland.
In 2006, Mary Rose was also the recipient of the “Muriel Bolton Award” which recognises annually a Lady member of any club affiliated to the Dublin Lawn Tennis Council who in the opinion of the Council has made a significant contribution as a player or administrator to the Dublin leagues.
Even over the last number of years as she struggled with her health, she tried to attend as many Open Finals days as she could, and was always greeted with the utmost respect by members and players alike.
The thoughts of us all are with Claire, her daughter who is an active member of the club, and the extended Lyons family at this difficult time.
There is a book of condolences setup in the Foyer of the Club.
May she rest in peace.

As you may have heard Naas LTC’s Men’s first team won the DLTC class 1 final at Castleknock today, beating a very strong Fitzwilliam 1st team 2-1.
The first doubles pairing, and first to finish, for Naas were the team co-captains Jack Hughes and Paul Fitzgerald. Despite losing the first set 6-3 the two combined very effectively to win the second and third sets 6-4 6-3. First blood to Naas.
The second doubles pairing for Naas were Declan Gardiner and Dorian Kos. They had a nightmare first set, losing 6-1. In the second set they managed to battle to 6 all and, despite going 5-1 down in the tie break, they fought back to win this set 7-6. Unfortunately they lost the third set 6-2.
The third doubles pairing, and the last to finish, were Alan Donnelly and Ari Knox. They won the first set 6-4 but lost the second by the same score line. At 4 all in the third Naas managed to break serve, with Alan Donnelly serving for the match. They came up against two very determined Fitzwilliam players who managed to break back. After another tough game Naas broke again, with Ari now lining up to serve for the match. Again Fitzwilliam came back strongly and forced a break point, which Naas managed to save. At this point the crowd were feeling anxious, we can only imagine what the players were feeling! After gaining an advantage in the game Naas won this game with a stunning smash from Alan, which can be seen on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/naastennis/).
On behalf of the club we would like to say congratulations to the players involved today, and to all players who played league this year on your performances.
We would also like to say thank you to everybody who came up to watch the match and support the team today. It was obvious that Naas had a very high number of supporters at the match, the roar that is heard in the video on Facebook does not do what was heard at the final point justice.
Roll on summer league!!!!!
