Official opening of Naas LTC clay courts

Dear Member

As you all know the club now has three new clay courts.   The courts have the latest clay technology, the first tennis club in Ireland to have this facility.

The courts are of such a high standard that we now have Irish International Simon Carr using them in his preparation for his clay court season.  He will be practising on them all this week.  He is practising in the mornings when the club is quiet.

The funding for these courts was supported by the Sports Capital Programme and we are grateful for the support of local T.D. Bernard Durkan in securing the funding.

Bernard Durkan will officially open the courts on Friday the 25th of January at 7.30pm along with the CEO of Tennis Ireland, Richard Fahey.

The celebration night will include Social Tennis and nibbles.   Please come down to the club and enjoy this special evening even if you do not participate in social tennis.

Naas Lawn Tennis Club are very grateful to Bernard Durkan T.D. and Richard Fahey CEO Tennis Ireland, who will also be in attendance, for their help in getting the clay court grant and as we are endeavouring to secure another grant for Padel Tennis Courts, a good turnout will indicate members’ interest in progressing the club.

Please come down and enjoy the occasion.

More details to follow…

28 of our very own club celebrities, 14 men and 14 ladies, will be strutting their stuff on the dance floor in the Citywest Hotel on Friday the 15th of March in the hopes of becoming Naas LTC Strictly Champions. Four fabulous judges Valerie Roe, Jenny Buckley, Breffni Carpenter, and one very special MYSTERY judge, will cast their expert eyes over their routines and be on the lookout for any foot fault!

Hosted by TV3 Presenters Andrea Hayes & Conor Clear at Citywest Hotel, this glitz and glamour fundraising event is being organised with the aim of raising money for some sparkly new paddle court facilities at the club, as well as a truly wonderful charitable cause.

Tickets cost €25, with €2 from each ticket sold being donated to Aoibheann’s Pink Tie National Children’s Cancer Charity

Yours in tennis!!
The coaching team @ Naas LTC

Well done Naas Men’s O35 1st!

Congratulations to the Naas Men’s O35 first team on winning Senior League class 1 earlier today in a very tightly fought match against Malahide and gaining revenge against Malahide for an earlier group defeat.

The day started out badly for Naas with Brian Gardiner and David Doyle losing their match 7-5 6-1 however shortly afterwards Ari Knox and Mark Finnegan won their match 6-4 7-5 to equalise.  This left Alan Donnelly and Justin Clarke, who had won the first set in a tight tiebreak, playing for the match.  Despite being broken early in the set they managed to immediately pull it back.  The match stayed on serve leading to a second set tiebreak.  The tie break stayed even until it reached 6-5 when Alan ripped a backhand winner down the middle off the Malahide serve to take the match, and the final, for Naas.

Special mention to Justin Phelan for his contribution to the team during the earlier matches.

It’s true…… The dome is back

The Dome is up again.  This wonderful facility, the envy of many clubs, allows us to have year round tennis in all weather conditions.

Many thanks to all the volunteers who turned up last Saturday to erect the Dome.  Volunteers were ably led by Shane, Padraig and Justin.   Some of our junior boys came out to help for the first time, thank you lads.  We started at 9am and thanks to the large numbers, the Dome was up and ready for use by 4pm. To keep us going Liz and Damien supplied us with cakes and tarts.

Dear Parents,

Please find below the details of the squads for term upcoming 2018/2019 starting Monday September 10th for 7 weeks.

In order to find the most suitable squad for your child please categorise your child as follows:

This year will be pushing the motto “COMPLETE TO COMPETE” again as we now have record number of children playing the game at all levels. Throughout the coaching year we will put on a series of one day tournaments, internal leagues, Phoenix tournaments and Open tournaments. It is important that you sign up for these. The main aim of the programme will be to get kids to play the game and to be able to serve rally and score! In a couple of weeks we will send through all the competitions for the next year with the links and how to enter. Some of the links will not be live yet but will be good to get them in the calendar

As term one progresses and we see other groups that need to be developed based on the standard of the kids we will advertise those to the relevant kids and parents.

Looking forward to another stellar year in tennis!!
